His films The Godfather,The Godfather Part II, and Apocalypse Now are often cited among the greatest films ever made.[1]

Coppola has, since , issued recent versions of several of his films, including Apocalypse Now: Redux (), The Outsiders: The Accomplish Novel (), The Cotton Club: Encore (), Apocalypse Now Closing Cut (), and The Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone (), among others.[2]

At the beginning of his career, Coppola assisted on a number of Roger Corman-directed films.[5] Throughout his career, Coppola has repeatedly cast certain actors for his film projects.

Singer-songwriter Tom Waits has appeared in six of his films, Robert Duvall and Laurence Fishburne have both appeared in five, and James Caan, Diane Lane, Frederic Forrest and Glenn Withrow have all appeared in four.
